Does laser hair removal hurt?

Most clients describe it as a mild “rubber band snap” and it’s definitely less painful than waxing. Pain also depends on the body area being treated; some areas are more sensitive than others.

Our technology is equipped with built in cooling technology operated by technicians who know how to soothe skin without affecting results. We can also apply some after-care products free of charge, that will be recommended based on the treatment.

In some cases, if the skin is too sensitive we recommend the use of topical anesthetics (2-4% lidocaine) placed an hour on the skin before treatment. Substances such as EMLA are available with a prescription, and others such as LMX-4 are available over the counter.

Is laser hair removal safe and will laser hair removal cause cancer?

Yes, it’s safe. Skin cancer is caused by ultraviolet (UV) light from the sun. Our lasers operate on the opposite end of the light spectrum which use targeted heat, not UV radiation. There is no link between lasers used in hair removal, or skin treatment, and cancer.

The only risk from lasers is direct exposure to the eyes, which is why we provide protective eyewear (ANSI Z136 certified) for every treatment.

Side effects like redness, blistering, or skin changes can occur if the skin is exposed to sun after treatment, or if we treat skin that’s tanned or sunburned. That’s why we always conduct a consultation first to understand your skin and hair, and we’ll refuse to treat areas with a recent tan or burn.

How many laser hair removal sessions will I need?

The reality is that your skin and hair are unique: they are affected by genetics, age, hormones, and many other factors. We specialize in understanding your skin first since this is the most important step in achieving results.

On average, most people need around 4 hair removal sessions spaced out to affect the hair follicle at all stages of the growth cycle, but this can vary.

For other procedures for skincare or body contouring, many people see results after the first session but it may take more to achieve the exact look you want.

I tried laser before and it failed. How is this different?

If laser hair removal failed you before, it’s almost certainly the equipment. Not you. Here’s what usually goes wrong:

They used IPL, not actual laser. Many clinics use IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) because it costs them less to buy and requires less training. But IPL emits scattered light across multiple wavelengths that spreads out before it can reach the hair follicle effectively. It might reduce some hair temporarily, but it rarely delivers the lasting results people expect particularly for those with darker skin or finer hair.

We use true dual-wavelength laser technology. Keep in mind that very tan or sun-burnt skin can easily be damaged so make sure that your skin is healed before an appointment. If we notice sunburn in the treatment area, we’ll need to reschedule to ensure the best results for your skin.

After your appointment, please avoid applying lotions and stay out of direct sunlight for any hair or skin treatments. For body contouring treatments, be sure to drink plenty of water to help your body get the best results.
